'May Lowe Quilt' Update
Following an incredible fund raising feat by four local
embroidery lovers, the draw for the beautiful May Lowe Quilt took
place in the MVSO Office in Elgin on the 27th of September.
The four
fundraiser's, Mrs Ann Corrigal, Margaret Strathdee, Lorna Logan
and Nan Brotchie gathered at the MVSO to draw the winning ticket,
bought by Mrs Catherine Milne from Elgin. The ladies raised
a grand total of £971.00 for Friends Of The Oaks, which
will go directly to help The Oaks centre.
The late
May Lowe was an avid embroiderer who sadly lost her life to
cancer. After the squares she’d lovingly embroidered were
given to her friends by Mrs Lowe’s husband, the ladies
decided they would make them into a quilt which would be raffled
to raise money for charity.
The ladies
would like to sincerely thank all who bought tickets, and all
who helped in the fund raising, including Elgin High Church,
Elgin Express Cleaners, The Press and Journal, Friends Of The
Oaks Committee, Seafield Bowling Club and all at the MVSO; particularly
Patricia, who supported them throughout.
2005 Christmas Giving Tree
We would like to thank all who came along to the Christmas
Giving Tree at Dr Grays.
A total of £306.52 was raised for The Oaks by those who
hung a star in memory of a loved one.
